 Calendars of the Treasury Secretary

In an effort to increase transparency and openness in government, the Department of the Treasury publicly releases the calendars of Secretary Timothy Geithner by posting them on the Treasury website.  These calendars—which usually cover three months—are generally posted every quarter.  The release is intended to provide the public with detailed information regarding the day-to-day activities of the Treasury Department and the Secretary.  Consistent with the Freedom of Information Act, certain limited aspects of the Secretary’s calendars are not released to the public.  Redacted information may include classified material, trade secrets, highly sensitive commercial or financial information, internal deliberative communications, or personal information such as calls with close friends or family.  Notwithstanding these limited redactions, the release of Secretary Geithner’s calendars represents an extraordinary and important disclosure of information to the public.
