Mattapoisett is bordered by Fairhaven to the southwest, Acushnet to the northwest, Rochester to the north, and Marion to the east. Buzzard Bay lies to the south. The Town is nine miles east of New Bedford, Massachusetts, 38 miles E-southeast of Providence, RI and 60 miles south of Boston. Interstate 195 runs through the town, and U.S. Route 6, which is the main road through the town. I-195 has an exit for the town. Recorded at the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds, Plymouth, MA in Book 7993 Page 323 Beginning at a stake in the northeasterly line of County Street as laid out by Massachusetts Highway Department in 1929, said stake being distant 47.97 feet southeasterly from a Massachusetts Highway bound: thence running NORTH 44 degrees 25’20” East 94.17 feet by land of Nellie M. Sherman, formerly Nellie M. Nye, to a stake: thence SOUTH 40 degrees 14’40” East 78.56 feet by other land of the grantors to a drill hole, thence SOUTH 35 degrees 43’20” West 76.14 feet by other land of the grantors to a stake in the northeasterly side line of County Street: and thence NORTHWESTERLY 90.49 feet by County Street to the point of the beginning. Containing 26.23 square rods more or less. All of said courses and distances are as shown on “Plan of land situated in Mattapoisett, Mass., Surveyed for Nellie M. Sherman, May 20, 1941, Samuel H. Corse, Suveyor” to be recorded herewith. FOR OUR TITLE, se deed of Nellie M. Sherman and Charles P. Nye, Dated October 15, 1941 and recorded in Plymouth County Registry of Deeds in Book 1829, ages 177-178. |
