Community Financial Access Pilot (CFAP) Community Profile

Brownsville Community Financial Access Pilot

Community Overview:  The Brownsville Community Financial Access Pilot (CFAP) serves the city of Brownsville and surrounding areas, where a high percentage of the population lives below the poverty line, and bilingual and bicultural households are common. 

Initiative Overview:  The Brownsville CFAP focuses on strengthening the financial capability of community residents by:  (1) incorporating financial education and access to accounts to youth in the local schools, through use of trained community volunteers; (2) expanding financial education and account opportunities to the parents of the youth attending local schools, (3) increasing access to financial services for other low- and moderate-income residents of the community.
