Your Civil Rights Are Protected

Nondiscrimination provisions apply to all programs and activities of recipients and sub-recipients of federal financial assistance. In programs that receive financial assistance from the Department of the Treasury, discrimination is prohibited on the bases of race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or limited English proficiency.  Reprisal actions against individuals for their prior civil rights activity are prohibited.  

Additionally, in Department of the Treasury programs and activities, discrimination is prohibited on the bases of disability, and limited English proficiency.

Filing a Discrimination Complaint

How do I file a discrimination complaint with the Department of the Treasury?

To file a program discrimination complaint, write a complaint letter to: Director, Office of Civil rights and Diversity, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave, N.W., Washington, DC 20220.

How long do I have to file a program discrimination complaint with the Department of the Treasury?

The Office of Civil Rights and Diversity has authority to investigate actions that took place no more than 180 days prior to the filing of your complaint, unless a waiver of this filing is requested and granted.
