Strategic Planning and Performance Improvement

Treasury’s Office of Strategic Planning and Performance Improvement (OSPPI) sets departmental organizational performance policy and provides agency-wide internal management consulting services in operations strategy, implementation, and continuous process improvement.
OSPPI reports directly to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Management and Budget (DASMB) within Treasury’s Departmental Offices and is led by the Deputy Performance Improvement Officer.  OSPPI provides tailored support to Treasury bureaus and offices through the following key programs.
Through the Organizational Performance Management program, OSPPI manages the Treasury-wide and component-level strategic planning processes and leads the Department’s internal organizational performance reviews and public reporting efforts. Partnering with colleagues throughout the Department, OSPPI maintains an engaged performance network that implements best practices in the areas of strategic planning, goal setting, performance measurement, and organizational performance reporting.
The Treasury Internal Consulting program provides customized assistance to the Department’s bureaus and offices to improve planning, problem-solving, and operational performance through program evaluation, change management, project planning, and event facilitation.  Specifically, OSPPI provides best practices research and recommendations, communications planning, and implementation strategies, among other services.
OSPPI’s Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) program directs business process redesign/improvement projects to cultivate a process improvement culture across the Department. OSPPI leads Lean Six Sigma training courses to expand Treasury’s cadre of process improvement professionals and foster a Department-wide network of CPI practitioners.
