The End of Paper Savings Bonds - As of January 1, 2012,  we stopped selling paper savings bonds through over-the-counter channels. This will save an estimated $70 million over the next five years.

Savings bonds are sold on-line at a different website,, which is managed by the Bureau of the Fiscal Service. These suggested links are for your convenience and take you to the site.

Create a Treasury Direct account now - You will need your Social Security number and a bank account number as well as the routing number.
